Crock Pot Ham

Ingredients:

  • 2 C packed brown sugar shopping list
  • 1 (8 pound) cured, bone-in picnic ham

Preparation:

  1. Spread about 1 1/2 cups of brown sugar on the bottom of your slow cooker crock.
  2. Place the ham flat side down into the cooker.
  3. Rub the remaining brown sugar onto the ham.
  4. Cover, and cook on Low for 8 hours.

 

Ham Sandwich Spread Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 pound sour cream
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sweet pickle relish
  • 1/4 cup onion, minced
  • 2 tablespoons pepper

Preparation:

  1. Grind the ham.
  2. Mix all ingredients.
  3. Refrigerate.

Works great on sandwiches or crackers.

Ham Sliced

Ham and Cheese Crescent Snacks

Ingredients:

  • 1 can (8 oz) Pillsbury® refrigerated crescent dinner rolls or 1 can Pillsbury® Crescent Recipe Creations® refrigerated seamless dough sheet
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1 cup cubed cooked ham
  • 1/3 cup chopped onion
  • 1/3 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar or American cheese (4 oz)

Preparation:

  1. Heat oven to 375°F.
  2. If using crescent rolls: On ungreased cookie sheet, unroll dough. Press or roll dough to form 13x9-inch rectangle, pressing perforations to seal. Form 1/4-inch rim around edges. If using dough sheet: On ungreased cookie sheet, unroll dough. Press or roll dough to form 13x9-inch rectangle. Form 1/4-inch rim around edges.
  3. In small bowl, mix butter and mustard. Spread mixture over dough. Sprinkle with ham, onion, bell pepper and cheese.
  4. Bake 18 to 25 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Cut into squares.
  5. Serve warm.

Layered Ham Tortilla Snack(Low Fat)


Ingredients:

  • 2 packages reduced fat cream cheese, softened
  • 2/3 of a cup of plain, nonfat yogurt
  • 1 package fat free cream cheese, softened
  • 1 medium green pepper
  • 1/4 cup of reduced fat Italian salad dressing
  • 3 green onions
  • 8 flour or whole wheat tortillas
  • 2 pounds of deli ham, shaved

Preparation:

  1. Finely chop the green pepper and green onions.
  2. Place the cream cheese, yogurt, and Italian dressing in a bowl and mix until mixture is smooth.
  3. Add the green pepper and green onions to the bowl.
  4. Stir until vegetables are distributed evenly. This is your tortilla filling.
  5. Divide the shaved deli ham into seven approximately equal stacks.
  6. Place one tortilla on a tray or plate.
  7. Spread approximately 1/7 of the filling mixture (approximately 1/2 cup) on the tortilla.
  8. Top with 1/7 of the shaved ham.
  9. Place a second tortilla on top of the ham.
  10. Repeat spreading filling on tortillas and topping with ham until the stack is topped off with the final tortilla.
  11. Place in an airtight container and chill for several hours.
  12. Cut into wedges and serve.

Parmesan Ham Appetizers

Ingredients:

  • 1 carton (8 ounces) whipped cream cheese
  • 1/4 pound ham, finely chopped
  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1 unsliced loaf (1 pound) Italian bread

Preparation:

  1. Blend the cream cheese, Parmesan cheese, ham and garlic powder until blended.
  2. Cut bread lengthwise.
  3. Spread with the cream cheese mixture.
  4. Cut bread into 1-1/2-in. slices.
  5. Place on an ungreased baking sheet. Broil 4 in. from the heat for 3-5 minutes or until topping is lightly browned. 

Apricot-Glaze Ham

Ingredients:

For the Ham

  • 12 ounces bone-in, uncooked smoked ham
  • 1 qt apricot juice

For the glaze

  • 4 1/2 cups dried apricots
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tbl lemon juice
  • 5 tbl packed brown sugar
  • 2 tbl honey
  • 1/4 cup orange juice

Preparation:

  1. Place the ham in a baking dish.
  2. Add the apricot juice.
  3. Bake the ham on the lower third level rack of a 325' oven for 3 hours, basting the ham with the juice every half hour.
  4. To make the glaze mix the apricots, water, lemon juice, brown sugar, honey and orange juice.
  5. Cover, set over low heat, and cook slowly until the sugar dissolves completely and then bring to a boil.
  6. Simmer, uncovered, for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the apricots are tender.
  7. Cool 10 minutes and pure'e.
  8. After the ham has cooked for 3 hours, paint the top and sides with the glaze every 15 minutes for the next hour.
  9. Check the internal temperature. It should be 160' after the final hour of cooking is up.
  10. Remove the ham and let the ham stand for 15 to 20 minutes before serving.

Ham and Pickle Pinwheel Appetizers

Ingredients:

  • 1 package precooked sliced ham sandwich meat or equivalent sliced deli ham.
  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 large jar dill pickles

Preparation:

  1. Spread softened cream cheese in thin layer on ham slices.
  2. Place a pickle on the end of each ham and cream cheese slice.
  3. Roll up like a jelly roll.
  4. Slice into approx. 1/2-inch thick slices.

Carrot Ball Appetizers

Ingredients:

  • 2 medium sweet carrots coarse grated
  • Bit of honey (optional)
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts
  • fresh parsley chopped
  • 8 oz cream cheese

Preparation:

  1. Blend carrots into the cream cheese.
  2. Roll into one inch balls.
  3. Mix nuts and parsley.
  4. Roll carrot balls in nuts and parsley mix.
  5. Chill well before serving.
